Peer into My WeekFamily is an important part of who we are so this week we are talking about all of our unique and different families. Group TimeDuring our family unit we are also incorporating the Three Bears into the learning fun and read. After reading the story several times some of our little ones wanted to give a try at acting out the story for their friends. Work Time (Learning Centers)Children have been preparing for our Family Feast by making the needed decorations to welcome their families into our classroom for the day. They have been creating this fun and fantastic spin art leaves. Placemats to mark their family place at the Family Feast. Children retold the story Three Bears to their friends at our sensory table. Small Group ActivitiesBeginning sounds with the Goldilocks and Three Bears. Our little ones became master sorters of size with these fun sorting mats. Visual discrimination with a flip and match game. Family with the Three Bears Week 1Here's what we worked on... Science WeekFor our week free of curriculum we chose to have a science week with chemical reactions. First up is Magic Milk Color DanceMaterials Shallow bowl Milk Food color Dish Soap Q-Tips ere to edit. When setting up a science activity for children try to make it so that children can do most of the experimenting on their own. Here you see trays on table to catch any spills that might happen along with the needed supplies for them to experiment with. ![]()

Witches BrewWe ended our week on Friday of course with no other than a little Witches Brew. Material Yellow vinegar Blue vinegar Baking Soda Instant Snow Plastic Bugs, Frogs, Bats and Snakes Water Beads for (eye balls) Nocturnal Animals Week 2We have been having a fantastic time with nocturnal animals these last few weeks. It has been a perfect addition to the seasonal hubbub. Group TimeWe had a group discussion about how bats see at night. I love see the thought process before and after. When it comes to introducing our little ones to letters, we feel that it is important to do so in a fun and meaningful way. That is why we choose letters that naturally blend in with what children are interested in. So... This week we introduce the letter D for day, since it worked right into our Nocturnal animals and Diurnal animals. We enjoyed this cut nocturnal animal puppet show. We did a pocket chart story about Five Little Owls. Our group writing activity is coming along nicely. Work Time (Learning Centers)We continued our research on bats in our science center with the differences between bats and owls. The clay center is creating some amazing owls. They are getting really good at working with clay and all the tools to go with it. They have really been enjoy the new funnel set up in the sensory table. Small Group ActivitiesOur little ones have been working on sorting nocturnal and diurnal animals. Sorting rhyming words from not rhyming words. Nocturnal Week 2Here's what we worked on...
