Froggy's First KissLast week we read our classroom favorite Froggy's First Kiss and worked on learning skills that tied into the story. We worked on our beginning sounds with Leap Frog beginning sounds work mat. Children created Froggy or Frogilina at the free art table. We made patterns using candy conversational hearts. Children had fun sorting number hearts using cloths pins in the sensory table. You can find these number hearts in Play to Learn Preschool TpT Store. Children had fun squirt painting large paper heart with liquid water colors and drip painting them with gold or silver. I can't wait to see these hanging around the room and in the office windows. Will the Groundhog see his shadow?I just love these types of projects because not one of them turns out the same. We like to give children the products to make a project and some simple directions. Then they are left to create. It is always amazing to see what comes out in the end. Small Group ActivitiesChildren matched pictures to their shadow. We practiced making patterns. Children sorted, counted and compared which hoop had more and less. We learned what opposite meant. Work Time (Child Choice)Arctic animal play using open ended materials. Building and creating in the woodwork center. You plan and think one thing, but they have a different thing in mind. Just let them play and do their own thing and the polar table turns into a ice cream stand. "Do you want a scoop?" Working together painting one of the classrooms community pots. I have been getting some questions on how I am organizing my color around the room. I had to think of a way that was easy and fast since this is a bundle (TNB) that I use everyday of every week. I also need to make it simple enough so that no matter who got it ready for the following day it was an easy peasy task to get done. I stared out by using two one inch binders and sleeve protectors. I created a binder for the ABC color the room (TNB) and one for Math color the room. In the math color the room binder I have the Numbers (TNB), Colors (TNB) and Shapes (TNB) all together. Each section has a small sticky note taped to the sleeve protect to make a tab. Next I found a plastic container (shoe box size) that would hold 4X6 inch cards. I cut small sticky notes in half to create the tabs for each 4X6 inch card and taping the tabs with packing tape. I placed the cards in the same order as the binders so that it would make things easer to find. The cards fit nicely behind each tab. I keep my container of cards and binders on shelf together in a cabinet next to the teacher prep workstation.
