When it comes to the teachers desk it usually means the biggest source of clutter in our classroom. Piles of papers, planners, loose notes, binders and who knows what else might be lying around there. There are 4 things you can do this week to help you get a handle on your desk top dumpster (a.k.a. cluttered desk) Tip #1 Declutter the top of your desk. An organized desk = a prepared teacher. When your desk is free of all that clutter, you are better prepared for the day at hand. At the end of each day take a few minutes to tidy up your desk and put everything in its rightful home. Tip #2 Organize your files. Paperwork stacks up and accumulates because we don’t always have a system to place it. By creating a color-coded filling system, you can eliminate the paper clutter. Tip #3 A place for everything. Designate a spot for everything that you need at your desk. If it doesn’t have a home it doesn’t belong on your desk. Separate and organize items into categories.
Tip #4 Label, Label and Label. Can you guess that one of my favorite ways to organize is to label everything. With labels, there is no need to look through every basket, tube, drawer or bin. You and others will be able to find the needed item in a snap that will save time and you will never forget where it goes. Week 1 Teacher Desk Check ListPrint out the teacher desk checklist to help you stay on top of the organization process. I have broken it down into small steps each day to get you the result with little frustration. Don’t forget to share your progress with us on Instagram. The challenge hashtag is #2017tptprekchallenge or you can tag us so that we can follow along and give encouragement along the way. @teachingpreschoolers @prekpartner @funinecse We will also be sharing on Facebook so join the conversation and share your progress along the way.
